On the afternoon of September 16, Zhongcheng Qingtai grandly held the "Public Welfare in Progress" exchange seminar and welcome meeting at its Jinan office, warmly greeting lawyer Zhang Wei upon his triumphant return from the "1+1" China Legal Aid Volunteer Program, where he successfully completed his mission in Kashgar, Xinjiang. Senior partners Du Wentang, Shi Guangbo, Li Zhenzhong, Hu Youbin, and Zhou Jia Kui, along with Office Director Tian Wenhua and dozens of lawyers and staff members from the firm, attended the event. The atmosphere at the gathering was both solemn and heartwarming, reflecting deep respect for the lawyers who contributed to the aid effort in Xinjiang, while also reaffirming the firm's steadfast commitment to advancing public welfare initiatives.

The meeting was chaired by Zhou Jia Kui, Senior Partner at Zhongcheng Qingtai. On behalf of everyone at the law firm, he extended heartfelt gratitude and high praise to Attorney Zhang Wei, noting that her year-long dedication to serving in frontier regions not only exemplifies personal professional integrity but also vividly embodies Zhongcheng Qingtai's philosophy of "fulfilling social responsibility through public welfare." Zhou Jia Kui emphasized that pro bono legal services are by no means an "extra task"—rather, they are a core component of the legal profession's inherent value, serving as the vital foundation upon which the firm builds its brand credibility and secures long-term growth. He added that only by deeply embedding themselves in公益 activities can law firms bring warmth to legal services and infuse their brands with enduring vitality.

Du Wentang, Senior Partner at Zhongcheng Qingtai, presented flowers to Attorney Zhang Wei, expressing his profound respect for Attorney Zhang's steadfast dedication and professional excellence, even under challenging circumstances.

Amidst applause, lawyer Zhang Wei shared his experience assisting in Kashgar. He candidly admitted that upon first arriving in Kashgar, he had to adapt to the windy and sandy climate, battle homesickness, and tackle the challenges posed by the local community's weak legal awareness as well as the complexity of their cases. Over the past year, guided by the goal of "addressing the urgent, difficult, troubling, and long-standing concerns of the people," he ventured deep into township communities, handling a total of 384 criminal, civil, and labor arbitration cases—ranging across critical areas such as marriage and family matters, and unpaid wages for migrant workers. "One particular criminal case involving a minor has left a lasting impression on me," he recalled. The young offender had inadvertently gone astray due to a lack of legal knowledge. Not only did Zhang successfully defend the teenager in court, but he also collaborated with the local community to launch comprehensive legal education initiatives, helping the youth get back on the right path. "This experience made me realize," he added, "that legal aid isn't just about 'solving cases'—it's about 'saving lives.'" In addition, Zhang delivered 12 insightful legal lectures titled "Explaining the Law Through Cases," where he meticulously explained key statutes like the Civil Code, reaching over 800 residents and significantly enhancing their legal awareness and ability to protect their rights.
Several senior partners, including Du Wentang, Li Zhenzhong, Shi Guangbo, and Hu Youbin, delivered speeches one after another, engaging in a focused discussion centered on "How pro bono work can drive business growth." All participants unanimously agreed that pro bono activities not only provide tangible support to vulnerable groups, helping them achieve fairness and justice, but also strengthen lawyers' sense of social responsibility and enhance their brand credibility, thereby infusing warmth and trust into professional services.

At the meeting, Zhou Jia Kui also delivered a keynote speech titled "Exploring Paths to Lawyers' Growth and Breakthroughs from a Public Welfare Perspective," sharing his personal experiences from participating in the "1+1" initiative and highlighting how public service can serve as a powerful catalyst for lawyers' professional development and business expansion. Meanwhile, attorneys Cai Jing and Lin Jing each recounted touching stories from their own days working with legal aid programs, resonating deeply with the attendees. Additionally, several lawyers—including Qin Wenting and Wu Guanru, who are members of Zhongcheng Qingtai's Public Welfare Committee—joined the discussion, expressing their highest respect to every dedicated lawyer committed to公益 endeavors. The seminar concluded successfully.
It is reported that, over the years, Zhongcheng Qingtai has cumulatively sent 23 lawyers to Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, and other regions, where they have participated in initiatives such as the "1+1" legal aid program and western lawyer training projects. Together, they have handled more than 1,200 aided cases and conducted over 300 public awareness campaigns on the rule of law, contributing significantly to strengthening the rule-of-law framework in frontier areas and enhancing grassroots legal service systems. Moving forward, Zhongcheng Qingtai's Jinan office will continue upholding its philosophy of "Upholding Justice Through Professionalism, Giving Back to Society through Public Welfare," expanding the reach of its pro bono services. From extending its efforts beyond "legal aid for border regions" to encompassing "community-based legal education," "campus-based rule-of-law programs," and "compliance support for small and medium-sized enterprises," the firm aims to inspire more lawyers to dedicate their expertise and compassion to公益 causes, ensuring that the light of the rule of law shines brightly in even the most remote corners of society.
