This water pollution public interest litigation case is the first environmental public interest litigation case filed by Green Line Qilu as the plaintiff. The sewage in this case flows into Nansi Lake, which is an important storage hub of the East Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and has an important strategic position in maintaining the balance of the regional ecosystem. The Zhushui River through which the sewage flows is an agricultural water use area. The discharge of sewage with excessive salt and sulfate will pollute agricultural irrigation water, cause harm to soil and crops, reduce the service function of agricultural irrigation water, and seriously damage the public interest.
The defendant in this case has not completely stopped discharging substandard sewage after being punished many times. Green line Qilu as a qualified environmental protection public welfare organization filed a public interest lawsuit in accordance with the law. After many trials and two years, the case was finally judged: the 1. defendant a water company immediately stopped discharging water pollutants that did not meet the prescribed standards; the 2. defendant a water company within 10 days from the effective date of the judgment, compensation for ecological environmental damage 3991761.12 yuan (turned over to the state treasury); the 3. defendant a water company within 30 days from the effective date of the judgment, in Shandong Province, the provincial mainstream media apologized to the public for the environmental pollution in this case; the 4. defendant, a water company, paid the plaintiff the investigation fee and lawyer's agency fee. The acceptance fee and appraisal fee in this case shall be borne by a water company of the defendant.
