Xue: Lawyer Geng, I find that you are a person who smiles when you open your mouth. Is this the same in court?

Geng: Ha ha, I am really a person who loves to laugh. I talk with a smile, handle cases with a smile and live with a smile. Don't think that lawyers can't laugh when they go to court. The court is not a battlefield. The communication between people based on the law is to mediate and resolve conflicts. Especially in a large number of civil lawsuits, if the existence of a lawyer makes the client feel that you are offensive and has made him feel a threat to his interests in form, it is difficult to create a better atmosphere to solve the problem. The three parties in the court are all human beings. It is a communication process based on the law. This process is not a life-and-death "war". The final ruling is the law. I don't think lawyers have to be serious and sharp. Maybe they should be gentle and use legal knowledge to put facts and reason. The other party will feel that I am performing my duties as a lawyer. He can understand that I am not deliberately threatening his interests for the interests of the other party. If the atmosphere is adjusted, the problem will be solved. Xue: The law is a kind of power, and gentleness is also a kind of power. You smile very sincerely, which makes people feel that you are laughing from your heart. Many people think that the profession of lawyer is integrated with cases all day long and with hard legal provisions, which will change many soft things in one's heart, including sincerity. What do you think?

Geng: career will reshape one's personality, but I think a person with inner strength can turn his most authentic personality into an advantage in his career. You said I smile sincerely, a heart is not sincere person, I find it difficult to pretend to be sincere, whether it is crying or laughing.

Sincerity is to restore the original face of things, which is the basis of communication between people. The character of sincerity is consistent with the attribute of law. I think the process of handling a case is a frank process. In this process, I do not cover up, do not say the result is too optimistic in order to get business, but make a more objective judgment based on the legal facts I have. This is a frank process, do not cover up the customer's problems, and strive to do it in a good direction, but sincerely speak out the problem, it is conducive to the whole process and customer communication.

Xue: I understand why your client has had such a long cooperative relationship with you. The leader has changed 3. for four terms, and the lawyer does not change. It is very rare.

Geng: At the end of 1998, I resigned as a civil servant at the age of 28 and became a practicing lawyer in Zhongcheng Renhe Law Firm. At the beginning of his practice, he began to serve as the perennial legal adviser of China Construction eighth Bureau second Company and Jinan Urban Construction Investment Co., Ltd. for more than a decade now. Lawyers have to deal with people of various personalities. I think I am a good communicator, adaptable and sensitive person. Because I am easier to compromise, my character is not the kind of person who can do whatever he thinks is good, then communication will not be smooth. We serve different companies, different agencies, and different people. If we can adjust ourselves in time, we can maintain good communication with customers. Sincerity in the law is the truth of the facts. Litigation or non-litigation will encounter all kinds of difficulties. The lawsuit may win or lose. I never make any false promises to undertake business. I will truthfully communicate with the enterprise for all facts and evidence that may be unfavorable to the enterprise, and help the enterprise to find ways and ideas to solve the problem in accordance with the law. Therefore, when the case is lost, the parties can also accept the result. Because in the whole process, they have clearly known where the case was lost, how to take warning next, and how to better avoid and control risks. No matter how many years, for every case, every problem is still cautious and sincere efforts. The law speaks with facts, and there must be no sloppiness, otherwise it will be difficult to survive and develop in the fierce competition. There is also a "trust link", a lot of business is introduced by customers, is word of mouth, in which your team, your professional, your character, are all conditions.

Snow: I read your information and know that you are already a very "marketable" lawyer. It has successively provided special legal services for many major construction projects such as Quancheng Road Reconstruction, Jingshi Road widening, Beiyuan Road widening and reconstruction, and Gold Group Queshan Longhu Project. As the legal adviser of the construction project of the Olympic Sports Center, he provided full legal services for the 11th National Games Olympic Sports Center venues, National Games Village, National Games Hotel and Olympic Sports Center venues 3.3 billion yuan corporate bond issuance. He also served as the perennial legal adviser to more than 20 government agencies and enterprises, including the Provincial Department of Finance, the Provincial State Taxation Bureau, Jinan Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Luneng Group, Lushang Group, China Construction Eighth Bureau, Jinan City Investment, he has successively represented a number of litigation and arbitration cases with significant influence inside and outside the province in the Supreme Court, the Provincial High Court, and various arbitration committees. The market is already very large. I would like to know how your "market" has been developed?

Geng: I never leave the firm to talk about my personal market. The profession of lawyer needs a group of people to survive and develop together. For so many years, I have a good platform. Shandong Zhongcheng Renhe Law Firm, a 23-year-old platform that has won almost all the honors that the legal profession can obtain, is supporting me. Now when clients look at the lawyer's personal profession and conduct, they also need to see what kind of team is supporting you. Many businesses cannot be completed by one person. I remember the Jinan Olympic Sports Center project back then, in the small building behind the city government, we a team in more than a month's time, which day does not work overtime? Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, we and the city in charge of the leadership together, from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day, that kind of office atmosphere let you go all out. There is also the scene of going home with the moon at two or three o'clock at night on the construction site of the National Games. Now that I think about it, I feel very sad. In our institute, there must be ten or eight lawyers who work overtime until one or two o'clock every night. That's the team I'm on. In such a team, people will be more diligent and dedicated. The average age in our institute is 32 or 3 years old. I have grown up in this team in more than ten years. I hope to use my own efforts to drive a group of young people to become better lawyers. As for myself, I maintain a gentle and harmonious disposition, maintain a diligent professionalism, integrate into the team and lead the team.

Xue: You once handled a case and went back and forth to Beijing more than 30 times in three and a half years. Finally, you completed your defense and achieved a satisfactory defense result. However, according to the contract, you only charge 20000 yuan's lawyer's fee, which may not even be enough for round-trip tickets and accommodation. After the case was handled, the family members of the parties wanted to express their gratitude to you many times, but you refused. Why?

Geng: Entrusted by others, loyal to others. This is the duty of a lawyer.

Snow: That can't be a business that loses money either. It takes time and money. I'm afraid it's not just these eight words, is it? With such selfless selflessness, what kind of things are you pursuing in your heart?

geng: lu xue, what do you think is the most important thing about people? I have been a lawyer for so many years, and I have seen too many people lose their freedom. I feel the same way and deeply understand the importance of freedom to people. What is the ultimate goal of legislation? It is to bring "freedom and equality" to the people ". At that time, according to my understanding of him and the facts of the law, he should not be restricted from freedom for so long. I want to use the facts of the law to help him restore the original face of the facts, even if it can give him a little comfort! I work hard for a person's freedom. I don't think about money at all. I lose money. I do it for my own conscience. If I do it, I feel at ease.

Snow: When you do this, you are no longer the rationality of the market, but the sensibility of a person.

Geng: It is to use human sensibility to restore the rationality of the law.

Xue: Many professionals in this era look up and try to get as close as possible to those who can help them open up the market and promote their positions. However, you and your colleagues in the office are focusing on the sanitation workers who are most likely to be neglected in the social working class, as well as the disabled. You took the initiative to contact the Jinan Municipal Environmental Sanitation Bureau and planned to form a "Sanitation Workers' Rights Protection Lawyers Group" jointly by full-time lawyers from Zhongcheng Ren and Lawyers and professionals from industry authorities ". You take advantage of your position to introduce the employment security fund for the disabled to the consultant, and suggest that the employer should appropriately provide jobs for the disabled within its capacity. Is it a "professional show" or a feeling from the heart?

Geng: if the "professional show" shows real social benefits, the "show" shows good results, and the "show" shows a professional culture, then the "show" will be done well. For me personally, it is a kind of emotion in my heart and a kind of culture for all of us. We not only pay attention to vulnerable groups, provide legal aid, Wenchuan earthquake, hope primary school and other social charities, all have our dedication.

I often go to work very early, sometimes at five or six o'clock in the morning. The street lights are still hazy and bright, and the pedestrians on the road are very deserted. When I see the figure of sanitation workers cleaning silently on the streets of the city, I will have a touch in my heart. I would unconsciously think from my professional role as a lawyer: "What can I do for them?" We turn this personal emotional touch into a kind of culture in the institute, a way to repay the society.

Xue: it can be said that this is a "social responsibility show" and "inner feelings show" of one person and a group of people ". I really hope that the more such "show" the better. The softest place in everyone's heart hides the kindness and passion of life. I see a lot of people with power, money, but no smile. Not only in the workplace will not laugh, at home will not laugh. When I look at the photos of you and your son together, they both smile as innocently. I think, from the heart, the softness of the heart can not be swallowed by power, money, fame, a person can maintain a smile and gentleness in the fierce competition of modern society. Is this the reason why you can handle cases with a smile and live with a smile?

Geng: Ha ha, I didn't think so much. It's natural anyway. The profession of lawyer provides me with the opportunity to serve the society with my profession, and also makes my personality known. Rationally, in the long run, is happy. But in the process of doing it, the pressure is also great. The pressure comes from the gap between your beautiful pursuit and reality. However, I am an optimist and can overcome helplessness and resolve bad emotions. People are born to solve problems. They look up at the starry sky, open their hearts to pursue sunshine, turn the power of law into gentle power and sincere power. There will be no shadow in their hearts, no sadness on their faces, no surliness in their temperament, and naturally work smoothly.

Geng: My father died when I was less than ten years old. My father was a college graduate and my mother was a teacher. Four sisters, I am the second child. After my father died, my mother gave us a very warm shelter with her wings of love. She taught me to be a happy person, a kind person, and a person who is not afraid of difficulties at any time.
