In order to assist the victims of Shandong during World War II to claim against Japan, on February 22, 2006, Deputy Director Dong Yiming led a group of eight young volunteer lawyers from Zhongcheng to Yucheng to investigate and collect evidence from six workers who were forced to work in Japan's Mitsubishi Company during World War II.

During World War II, seven old people, including Liu Yuqi from Yucheng and Plain, were forced to be escorted to Mitsubishi Copper Mine in Japan to engage in heavy and humiliating labor and suffered great physical and mental harm. In November 2004, lawyer Dong Yiming accompanied Mr. Liu Qingshan, a 75-year-old labor representative, to represent 11 victimized workers in Shandong to the Miyazaki Prefecture District Court in Japan to participate in a lawsuit against the Japanese government and Mitsubishi Mining Company. This lawsuit has attracted widespread attention from Chinese and foreign media. At present, the Japanese government and enterprises use issues such as exceeding the statute of limitations, the country's lack of responsibility, the Chinese government's abandonment of claims, and the discrepancies between the plaintiff's name and labor book registration as excuses for not being liable for compensation. In order to make full preparations for the next court session, Zhongcheng lawyers went to Yucheng to investigate and collect evidence on February 22, 2006. In the early spring, the weather was warm and cold. The old people knew that Zhongcheng's lawyer team was coming to Yucheng. Despite their old age and frail, they came to Yucheng Xingyu Hotel early with the company of their families. Deputy Director Dong Yiming greeted the elderly on behalf of Zhongcheng, and focused on introducing them the situation of the previous court sessions and the main content of the investigation, and then arranged for lawyers to carry out their work. Most of the injured workers are old, which increases the difficulty of the investigation. With the patient work of the lawyers and the strong cooperation of the workers themselves and their families, the investigation and evidence collection was finally successfully completed.
