From April 29 to May 1, 2001, Director Wang Guangren and Deputy Director Dong Yiming of Shandong Zhongcheng Renhe Law Firm went to Guangzhou to participate in the Yangtze River Networking Conference (Yangtze River Networking was established in 1994 and is currently an influential lawyer collaboration group in China. At present, more than 20 well-known law firms are members of its network), and have conducted extensive exchanges with members of the LAWORLD (lawyers union with members in Europe, America and Australia). During the meeting, Director Wang Guangren delivered an important speech on the development of the Yangtze River network.

Excerpts from Speeches at the Guangzhou Conference on Yangtze River Networking

Dear colleagues, I attended the online meeting yesterday and today and felt a lot. The Yangtze River Network is the network of all of us, and we need to maintain it together and make our contribution to the development of the network. Today, I would like to focus on the following two points:
1. to create the Yangtze River networking brand.
Brand is very important to an organization. We should make the brand of Changjiang Internet go out. We want to achieve such a reputation, that is, China's lawyers are proud to participate in the Yangtze River Network, which is very beneficial to increase the reputation of the entire Yangtze River Network. I think we can work from the following aspects:
(I) we want to form an independent logo for the Yangtze River network.
Each member of the Yangtze River Network basically has its own logo, but the Yangtze River Network has not yet had an independent logo. The new logo should become the representative of the overall image of the Yangtze River network, just as well-known brands are easy to be accepted by the majority of customers, the logo of the Yangtze River network will certainly improve the visibility of the network.
(II) to strengthen the publicity of the Yangtze River network.
We should publicize the Internet in various media and let more people know about the Internet. For example, there are some co-organizing governing units in "Chinese Lawyers" and "Lawyers and Legal System". We can contact such publications and become governing units, so that more people can know the existence of the Yangtze River Network and be known to everyone. Understand and be familiar to everyone. A certain amount of funds is needed to complete this work. I think the Yangtze River Network is the network of all of us. For the common cause of all of us, we each contribute part of the funds, and we must work together to do a good job in publicity.
(III) we need to do a good job in the publication of the Yangtze River Network.
Changjiang Networking has always provided "Networking Information" to its members in the past, but this is only the unilateral work of lawyer Wu (the initiator of Changjiang Networking), and the information exchanged between the members is too little. This requires more exchanges between us, exchange what we have, learn from each other, and improve together, so that we can produce higher-level publications. If so, to some extent, we can also say that there will be our opinions or suggestions on the business development of Chinese lawyers, which has played a guiding role, thus establishing our position and contributing to the development of Chinese lawyers. The publications of the Yangtze River Network are a good means of external publicity. The original publications are already good. With the joint participation of all of us, we can and have the ability to produce higher-level publications.
(IV) members to promote themselves at the same time to promote the network.
Each of our member offices generally has its own brief introduction. In these brief introductions, we should uniformly indicate the other member units of the Yangtze River networking institute, so that the outside world can understand other networking institutes as well as their own. In the eyes of the outside world, it is also a symbol of strength, which is not only the propaganda of the networking institute, but also the propaganda of itself.
(V) appropriately expand the scale of networking.
Just now I made a rough statistics. Our online members come from 14 provinces and cities, and there are still 16 provinces and cities that are blank. Of course, we are not unlimited to expand the scale, the key is to persevere, and now some lawyers business collaboration network eventually come to nothing. It is not easy for us to develop the Yangtze River network to this day. I think the number of our member institutions should be about 30, which can be appropriately increased in some mega-cities. For example, at present, there is no member institute in Shanghai, and there is no member institute in Henan Province, which has the largest number of people in China. Most of the current member companies come from economically developed provinces. Other relatively remote provinces and economically underdeveloped provinces, such as western China, have no member companies. I think that our network must also have a certain scale, and only with a certain scale can we have a scale effect. Therefore, it is more appropriate for our network members to have 30. In the case of developing ourselves, we should look further, not only the development of our more than 20 member firms, but also a sense of mission. For the development of Chinese lawyers, we should also make our own contribution.
The above is a few suggestions on the creation of the Yangtze River networking brand.
The activities of 2. the Yangtze River networking should be regular.
Since the establishment of our Yangtze River Network, we have organized many fruitful activities. The Jinan Conference in 1998 was quite successful. If self-discipline non-governmental organizations like ours do not have activities, they will have no vitality. Our activities can be diversified. Diversification of activities is not a difficult and complicated matter.
(I) business collaboration should be regularized.
Business development is the fundamental guarantee for the development of a law firm. The standard of a firm's strength mainly depends on the level of business development and the market share of legal services. Business collaboration between member firms is also the basis for the development of the Yangtze River network. Our goal of networking can only be achieved if the level of our respective operations is developed and the business collaboration among our member organizations is strengthened.
(II) strengthen the exchange of work.
Work communication includes the exchange of work concepts, work methods, business theories, information, etc., so that everyone can get to know each other more. Although we only hold a meeting once a year, through the exchange of our publications and network information, we can often understand each other's business development, even some new business practices, work planning, etc.
Meetings (III) the Yangtze River network should be held regularly.
I think it is necessary for networking meetings to be held regularly, preferably once a year. If the interval is relatively long, everyone may be relatively unfamiliar. Once a year, each member can take turns to host. Where the next meeting will be held can be decided at this meeting, so that there can be a more leisurely preparation time, which is conducive to the effectiveness of the meeting. Members of the Network are subject to the discipline of the Network and are considered for cancellation of their membership if they do not participate in the activities of the Network without reason. This requires all members to respect each other and work together to work together for the development of our Yangtze River network.
I believe that with the joint efforts of all member firms, the Yangtze River Network will continue to develop and grow steadily, and will definitely contribute to the development of Chinese lawyers.
